Charlie Darwin threw a cat amongst the pigeons when he came up with his theories of natural selection, the products from Earth Deposits highlight the fact that if the Creation theory is to be given any credence whatsoever then it must be considered as allegorical, i.e. the 7 days alloted in the bible for God to make the whole shebang, must in actual fact be a lot longer than 7 actual days.
Big Bang theory, combined with the mathematics of an expanding universe allow an increasingly accurate estimate to be made of the age of the known universe at about 13.5 billion years.
Alongside this figure even the oldest of Earths rocks become positively teenaged.
The question then remains, what was there before this moment in time, and even more prosaically, what was there before time itself?
Rubber Band and Super String theories allow an infinite extension of the cycle of the Big Bang and its reversal, meaning that we humans exist for an eyeblink within the gigantic timescales of Universal existence so that to some extent what we think matters not at all.
On the other hand, the idea that we might have "sussed the whole thing out," means that our "eyeblink of existence," (I lay claim to this gorgeous phrase here and now), is uniquely gifted, because it can predict the future of the whole of existence.
Does this make me some sort of God?
I think it probably does.
The good news for all of you is that your worship is not required, indeed I would see such sycophancy as either an attempt to "suck up" to me, or the ravings of a loon.
So carry on, in your eyeblink of existence, (so good I had to use it twice), and ponder; when you buy the many products of Earth Deposits, that your money is an investment in time itself, the enduring legacy of we humans, we visionary's, seers, prophets, mathematicians, astronomers and bowel moving gastronomes (food is all)
Ponder and most of all enjoy.
